Public Menace (1935) Jean Arthur, George Murphy

A 1935 screwball comedy starring Jean Arthur and George Murphy.  An egotistical reporter who's tailing mobster aboard an ocean liner. He lets the big story slip through his fingers when he meets the ship's manicurist who tells him she has a big story about a kidnapping and will tell him if he will marry her so she can re-enter the United States legally. They marry and the reporter loses his job due to the manicurist's bogus story.  The manicurist continues to tell lies to get her new husband's job back.  Eventually the reporter gets his big story and his job back.
